Serena, while in training for her first half-IRONMAN sets a personal best with a 50kg clean and jerk. She fought hard for this rep, but true to personality, didn’t give in and got that weight over her head. Maintaining a solid strength base is essential to the success of endurance athletes in order to aid in injury prevention, by keeping not only the muscles strong and conditioned, but also the connective tissue, tendons, and ligaments.
