Photo - Manny explains to new FIT trainer, Shoshanna why elbow placement is important during the reception of the clean and the front squat. Following the third pull of a clean (pulling the body beneath the bar), upon receiving the bar, the elbows should be kept high, allowing for the bar to rest across the clavicles and anterior deltoids. This enables the trunk to maintain a more upright, extended position, allowing for a safer and more efficient ascent out of the front squat.
