Let it be known that Gracie is being promoted by Cytosport, the makers of Muscle Milk, so we all know that he is eating right too. That might suggest an advantage. Gracie will have Cytosport's logos "tatted" on his gi.

Matt Hughes has been eating like a farm boy and is sponsored by Xyience. Nobody (from what I hear and read) trains harder than Matt Hughes. He is definitely more athletic and in better shape than Gracie. However, Gracie has also been training at Fairtex in San Francisco:

It is fairly obvious that Hughes will not try to take Gracie down right away. Gracie knows this and will be forced to stay standing. Gracie has been working his punching and kicking, but I don't think he will be as good as Matt on his feet. I'm also not convinced Matt will be that easy to take down. Once they finally end up on the ground (if they do), I think Matt is capable of submitting Gracie - although the advantage seems to be in Gracie's favor on the ground. It'll be a really interesting fight, but in the end I see Hughes winning and me taking another 10 bucks from Joe.

Although i think Hughes will win, I really want to see Royce pull out some crazy flying submission, or some other crazy bjj move that I've never seen. If that happens I dont care who wins.

I think Gracie would like the following to happen in order:

1. Gracie wins by punching or kicking knockout (not likely, but he has been training at Fairtex)
2. Gracie wins by submission (most likely way for him to win)
3. Gracie wins by decision (if it goes to decision I doubt he has any chance)
4. Hughes wins by decision
5. Hughes wins by submission (he can claim is he the best teacher)
6. Hughes wins by punching or kicking knockout

Either way it is going to be fun to watch...looking forward to it!

I hope Huges destroys Gracie. Broken nose, orbital fracture.... some ground and pound.

Why? Cuz back in the old school UFC days, with no time limit and no standing up the fighters, some of Gracie's fights were what - 3 days? I think a couple times I left the room to go watch paint dry. I think a couple of his fights were around 1 hour. Eventually he would submit someone and laying around forever.

Remember his fight against Chemo? Chemo beat the hell out of him, but Gracie finally got a submission, but Chemo gave Gracie a concusion and Gracie could not go on.

So, I will be in a split household!

You got your wish. Although I liked the welterweight fight between spencer and matt "handsome" something or other.

That flying knee by Spencer was awesome. Hughes dominated Gracie - as I thought he would. Thanks for the 10 bucks Joe. Dean Lister had a great submission against the Italian boxer - Alessio. The Diego fight was crazy with the Canadian dude carrying him around for what seemed like several minutes. Brandon Vera is the real deal...I think he is going to move up the ranks in the next few years. Local boy Swick made short work of Riggs. Melvin Guillard had a crazy punch that left his opponent knocked out on the way to the mat. Overall it was an entertaining event.
