Food journaling. A great and easy-to-use tool. I used it for two days already, and I'm surprised at how many calories I actually consume, as well as the (dis)proportionate macronutrients (protein, carbs and fats). Check it out.

You can create your own free account on this website. The site already has nutrient profiles for many of the common foods, but you can also add new food items and/or personalized foods, just as long as you have the package label for that item's nutrition information. This way, your list of foods keep growing, and any logging of food intake thereafter can be quickly done from this list.

Hope you find some use out of it.

John

I like this site. It seems intuitive, fast, and useful. Are there anymore out there like it?

There will be, and it will be even better. I don't know how much longer it may take, but it'll be here...not fast enough.

Scott, I know you've been "watching" what's out there and studying many existing ones. When you say that one will be available and that it will be even better, I believe it. Can't wait.

On the other hand, the above link has been helpful to give me an idea of what I eat daily. I realized, through using the site, that I actually eat a wide variety of foods -- mostly whole, unprocessed foods. I'd imagine that a couple of years ago I'd find out through this site how limited my good variety might have been.

The site is helpful not only with calorie tracking but also with revealing whether enough variety is consumed for overall health. I believe that a knowledge and control of MICROnutrient intake is equally important to MACROnutrient intake. One without the other is only half the story.
